How many students do we need to become a Snowball Team?
As many or as few of you are interested in Snowball! Bring 100 or bring 1, we want all of these amazing leaders involved. Teams start at all different levels and our staff are here to help coach you no matter where you are.
Is there a fee associated with becoming a Snowball Team?
It is FREE to sign up to become a Snowball Team. We have a long list of benefits that you receive from registering.
When it comes to programming in your school or community, the events or campaigns you choose to participate in with your Team may come with a cost. This is where fundraising or a school club stipend would come in handy to operate at the level you envision for your Team.
What events should we do?
You can participate in monthly prevention campaigns. This might look like your students tabling during lunch periods to bring awareness about mental health awareness month, creating a half sheet of paper for stress management during finals, or even hiring a speaker to talk about drug and alcohol prevention during red ribbon week.
Some of our Teams choose to plan and hold a retreat for their school. This could consist of a 1-4 day event that includes renowned speakers, workshops, small group discussions, fun activities & more.
The best part about Snowball is every Team holds different programming and you get to make it your own!
How many adults should be involved?
Every Snowball Team needs to have at least one adult who is the main contact for the group, we call them an Adult Mentor.
What does being an Adult Mentor mean?
Communication from OS, Inc. always goes directly to the Adult Mentor. Adult Mentors are responsible for leading the group through every stage of planning, recruiting student leaders, creating a yearly budget, and much more. Snowball is a youth led and adult supported program to foster trust and connection on both sides.
What types of OS/IABH events can I participate in?
Here are some events that Operation Snowball holds every year, along with the events our partner program, the Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute, holds each year:
OS Showcases (fall & spring)
OS Awards Banquet
CGTI Mid-Year
CGTI Summer Conference
