Operation Snowball, Inc. (OS, Inc.) is one of four impactful prevention programs proudly operated by the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health (IABH). Alongside OS, Inc., IABH leads the Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute (CGTI), Focus Youth Gambling Prevention, and Generation Lead. Each initiative is dedicated to empowering youth and strengthening communities across Illinois.

OS Mission Statement:

Operation Snowball is an international youth program that empowers student leaders through prevention education, positive community change, and leadership development to create a positive impact. 

We are a youth-led and adult supported program that promotes and encourages communities throughout Illinois and beyond to live a healthy and safe lifestyle.

Get involved

We empower students to use their knowledge, motivation, and passion as a driving force to create a positive impact at both local and international levels.

We develop youth leaders by providing diverse education on Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug (ATOD) prevention, healthy decision-making, and community engagement skills through research-based prevention education.

We envision a world where adults support, encourage, and challenge youth to become strong leaders in their communities.

What role do OS, Inc. Board of Directors have throughout the year?

  • Ensure that OS, Inc. meets the needs of members and groups interested in becoming Teams

  • Communicate regularly with Teams/individual members about OS, Inc. policies, member concerns or needs, and issues requiring OS, Inc. attention

  • Develop policies and goals, acting as a group, for the executive director and staff to implement and achieve in conjunction with and/or on behalf of the members

  • Actively support OS, Inc. policies and goals 

  • Acting as a team, develop a strategic plan to outline the future of OS, Inc.

  • Ensure that OS, Inc. has adequate finances and that funds are spent responsibly

  • Support the executive director and staff with your consulting skills 

  • Attend board meetings and actively participate, including service on committees and as officers
